Blenheim Palace Food Festival
The 2017 Fantastic British Food Festival season got off to a magnificent start at stunning Blenheim Palace over the late May bank holiday weekend. Now an annual event, and recently listed in the top ten food festivals of the world*, this year’s Blenheim Palace Food Festival delighted visitors with even more delicious food and drink, cookery demonstrations, talks and tastings and family entertainment.
Over 22,000 visitors came to taste and buy gifts from 120 food and drink producers and meet our chefs and food and drink experts. Tasty treats on offer ranged from champagne and oysters to local handmade cheeses, pulled pork burgers and fine macarons.
Great British Bake Off 2015 Finalist, Tamal Ray entertained a packed demonstration theatre, with TV tales and top baking tips. MasterChef 2015 Finalist, Tony Rodd shared his culinary skills cooking Smoked Trout, Tempura Oyster, Chicken and Mushroom Roulade and Dark Chocolate and Coffee Dessert and there were more fascinating demos and creations from guests including Katharine Tate, The Food Teacher; Kelly Mauger; Nick Pullen and food and cookery authors Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi, Regula Ysewijn and Nick Barnard.
Silk Street Jazz Band provided relaxingly tuneful sounds and children found lots to keep them busy in Blenheim Palace’s wonderful Pleasure Gardens, including the maze, playground, a chocolate workshop, face painting and garden games.
Blenheim Palace was built in the early 18th Century to celebrate victory over the French in the War of the Spanish Succession. The Palace, park and gardens offer more than 300 years of fascinating history to discover.
