Churchyard & Cemetery

Until 2022, family history researchers interested in Ramsden have had to delve into many different sources of information to find out more about past inhabitants of the village. Now, there is a comprehensive list of the 857 people buried in the churchyard and in the cemetery on Akeman Street.

Clare Hutt, who was born in the village and now lives here again, has researched census details, birth, marriage and death records to produce a fascinating and invaluable document for posterity. In three illustrated volumes, a copy of this fascinating work is kept for visitors to examine in St James’s church, in the village archives, and in the Oxfordshire History centre in Cowley Road, Oxford.

To assist researchers across the world, this index of all names connected with Ramsden since 1842 is now available on the Ramsden Village website together with a map of graves in both sites.
